GM Recalls Over 90,000 Vehicles for Transmission Issue

GM Recalls: As reported by several prestigious website NBC, Fox News, and Car & Driver, General Motors is recalling over 90,000 vehicles of Chevrolet and Cadillac that includes 2020-2022 Camaro line-up, 2020-2021 CT4 & CT5, and 2019-2020 CT6, due to a faulty transmission control valve that can lead to harsh shifting and, in some cases, temporary wheel lockups.

Issue

It is reported that the issue affects vehicles with 10-speed automatic transmissions, where the transmission control valve may wear out over time, causing fluid leaks and pressure loss. This can result in rough gear changes, and in all-wheel-drive Cadillac models, the front wheels may momentarily lock up while driving.

Solution

GM is rolling out new software that will monitor the valve for excessive wear. While GM believes only 1% of recalled vehicles will experience the defect, they are urging owners to check their VIN on the NHTSA website to see if their car is affected.

Timeline

Dealers have already been notified, and GM will begin contacting owners in mid-April with instructions on the fix. If you own one of these models, it’s worth checking to ensure your vehicle is safe on the road. You can check your vehicle’s VIN on NHTSA official website.
