Introduction
The Lexus LX has always been a commanding presence in the luxury SUV segment, it is refined, it is powerful and is a capable off-roader. Now, for 2025, Lexus seems to be in no mood to let that presence slip-off and so they have launched the 2025 Lexus LX 700h, a hybrid powerhouse that promises a lot. But does the new hybrid powertrain elevate the LX beyond its competition, or is this simply an evolutionary step? Let’s take a look…
Powertrain
The biggest change for 2025 is under the hood. The LX 700h swaps out the naturally aspirated V8 of past generations and the twin-turbocharged V6 from the LX 600 to a modern 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid system. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Lexus’ DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, this setup produces a formidable 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. That’s a significant jump in torque compared to the 409 hp and 479 lb-ft in the previous LX 600.
Lexus claims this new hybrid system enhances both power delivery and fuel efficiency, a crucial upgrade for an SUV of this size and capability. Now the official EPA fuel economy figures are not out yet, Lexus has estimated a 20 mpg of combined mileage, which is slight improvement over the outgoing model.

2025 Lexus LX 700h GA-F Platform
The LX 700h, like the LX 600, is built on the GA-F platform, a body-on-frame architecture that underpins Toyota and Lexus’ most rugged SUVs. This high-strength and lightweight platform helps in an increased structural rigidity, ride comfort, and handling, the GA-F platform also help reducing the overall weight compared to the previous-generation LX and contributes to the improved off-road capability, making LX remains one of the most capable upscale SUV in the market.
2025 Lexus LX 700h Performance & Capability
Despite its hybrid nature, the LX 700h retains its full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system with Lexus’ advanced Multi-Terrain Select. The MTS system automatically adjusts torque distribution, traction control, and suspension settings to adjust during varying off-road conditions, like sand, rock, mud, or snow, basically contributing towards better handling and ride quality.
The electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials ensure maximum traction when needed. Additionally, Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and Active Height Control (AHC) provide improved ride quality and enhanced ground clearance.

2025 Lexus LX 700h Towing Capacity
Being a Hybrid appears to be more of an asset than a limitation in case of LX 700h as it remains quite a capable hauler and it can tow up to 8,000 pounds.
2025 Lexus LX 700h Exterior
Talking of the Design, Lexus has fine-tuned the LX 700h rather than completely reinventing it. The SUV retains its remarkable spindle grille, adorned by sleek triple-beam LED headlights. Built with the philosophy of “Dignified Sophistication,” The front A-pillars are set further back, creating a cab-backward stance, while its strong, sculpted profile conveys a sense of capability.
The spindle grille features a bold, three-dimensional design with seven floating bars, forming a seamless, frameless structure. Not only for aesthetics, this grille is engineered for better performance, each bar is precisely shaped to optimize airflow and maximize cooling for the twin-turbo engine. Large side radiator grilles further enhance cooling efficiency while also contributing to the vehicle’s aerodynamic stability.
Also several changes are done to protect the battery The hybrid primary battery of the LX 700h is housed inside a watertight tray with separate top and lower portions owing to its waterproof structure. This design ensures a 27.5-inch fording capacity while preventing water intrusion during deep water crossings. Should water inadvertently enter the tray, a water sensor installed therein will identify it and notify the driver via a meter display.

2025 Lexus LX 700h Vs Competition
Now it’s not Lexus alone in the full-size luxury SUV segment in-fact the segment is competitive & that too fiercely, with rivals such as the Cadillac Escalade, Range Rover, and Mercedes-Benz GLS and many others are vying for the crown. Let’s take a look at what its competitors has to offer:
Model | Powertrain | Horsepower | Torque | Fuel Efficiency (est.) | Towing Capacity |
2025 Lexus LX 700h | 3.4L Twin-Turbo V6 Hybrid | 457 hp | 583 lb-ft | 20 mpg (est.) | 8,000 lbs |
Cadillac Escalade | 6.2L V8 / 3.0L Diesel | 420 hp | 460 lb-ft | 16-21 mpg | 8,200 lbs |
