2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS: A Family Hauler with Muscle-Car Attitude

Chevrolet’s SS badge has always meant speed, but for 2025, it’s traded in tire smoke and V8 growl for quiet but blistering torque. Meet the new 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, the most powerful version of the electric Blazer yet, and one of the quickest ways to haul your family across town, or across the state, for that matter and that too, without burning a drop of fuel.

After an unexpected delay and plenty of anticipation, the Blazer EV SS has finally arrived. And while it won’t please purists yearning for sideways thrills or screaming engines, it doesn’t need to. This isn’t a track toy, it’s a powerful, everyday EV with built in muscle-car attitude.

Power & Performance

Blazer EV SS has a dual-motor setup which is powered by a 102-kWh battery, thus producing a massive 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque when you dialed in the “WOW” mode, short for Wide Open Watts. That’s powerful enough to launch this 5,730-pound sfrom 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, earning it the title of the fastest SS-badged Chevy ever produced.

Unlike some performance EVs that only deliver max output in short bursts, the Blazer EV SS keeps that full power on tap as long as you stay in WOW mode.

Design

While the Blazer EV SS shares its silhouette with other Blazer EV trims, it features its own aggressive flair. Unique front and rear bumpers, exclusive 22-inch wheels, and a black contrast roof give it a look and feel of a sportster. The suspension got firmer too, springs and anti-roll bars have been stiffened by 30 to 60 percent compared to lesser models. Brembo six-piston front brakes with 15.3-inch rotors will be providing you with strong stopping power, and an optional Performance Package will add grippier summer tires and enhanced brake materials.

Range & Charging

Despite its performance edge, it has an an EPA-estimated 303 miles of range, and in that it outpaces its rivals like the Kia EV6 GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. DC fast charging tops out at 190 kW, adding nearly 80 miles of range in just 10 minutes. That’s not class-leading, but it’s more than usable for most road trips.

Interior

Step inside, and the Blazer EV SS greets you warmly (not too much however). A nice 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen dominates the dash, paired with an 11-inch digital cluster. You’ll also get standard wireless charging, plenty of USB ports, and roomy seating that can comfortably accommodate five adults. Rear legroom is generous, and cargo space is decent, though there’s no front trunk (frunk), which feels like a missed opportunity for an EV of this size, could have been achievable with some extra efforts.

interior color options in this Chevy are bold like Adrenaline Red and Ash Gray with orange accents. But while the design is sporty, material quality is hit or miss. Some areas feel upscale with suede and leather touches, while others, like the lower door panels and window switches, reveal hard plastics that don’t quite match the price tag.

And yes, like other new GM EVs, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are missing, replaced by Google’s native apps. You’ll still get Maps, Spotify, and even video streaming services like YouTube and Prime Video, but smartphone loyalists may miss the familiar integration.

Super Cruise and Driving Modes

To make your highway trips less stressful Chevy’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system comes standard on the SS.

The SS also includes several drive modes, Normal, Sport, Snow/Ice, and Z-Mode (which allows custom performance settings). You can even control regen braking levels, including one-pedal driving and paddle-activated braking, borrowed from the Bolt EV.

Our Thoughts

The 2025 Blazer EV SS doesn’t try to be the sharpest or lightest performance EV. Instead, it leans into a more nuanced balance, offering power tech & fierce acceleration wrapped in a package, which, even with all that, makes sense for everyday use.

However, It’s not perfect which it could have been with little efforts. The cabin materials could be better, and Chevy’s decision to ditch CarPlay will annoy some buyers. But as a mid-size electric SUV that got power, speed, space, tech, and at $62,095, the top of the line 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS stands tall.
