Google Cloud has unveiled its cutting-edge automotive AI Agent to bring generative AI capabilities to the automotive industry. And they have partnered with the luxury brand Mercedes-Benz for its debut.
Powered by Gemini and Vertex AI, this new platform is intended to let manufacturers develop highly customized and intuitive in-car assistants that perform better than traditional control by voice systems.
The Google Cloud Automotive AI Agent’s advanced features, such as multimodal reasoning and linguistic support, enable natural, fluid conversations. Users might ask “Is there an Italian restaurant nearby?” for instance, and then follow up with queries like “Is it well-reviewed?” or “What is the most well-liked meal there?” This raises the conversational intelligence of in-car assistance to a completely new level.
One of the first Automobile manufacturers to include the Automotive AI Agent into its next-generation MBUX Virtual Assistant is Mercedes-Benz, which will make its debut later this year in the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The enhanced MBUX Virtual Assistant will provide drivers and passengers with instant access to personalized, real-time information on traffic updates, interesting locations, and other subjects, the MBUX Virtual Assistant is powered by Google Maps Platform.
One important characteristic of this collaboration is the agent’s capacity to handle complex, multi-turn talks while maintaining conversational context.
For example, drivers can pause their interaction and seamlessly pick up where they left off.
