Stellantis

  • The DS N°8, DS Automobiles’ first EV, debuts as a sleek, tall-sedan flagship with SUV proportions.
  • Delivers up to 350 horsepower and a range of 466 miles (WLTP) with multiple powertrain options.
  • Interior highlights include laser-cut speaker grilles, ambient lighting, and a 16-inch central touchscreen.

The French have a knack for crafting objects of beauty that make a statement, and the new DS N°8 is no exception. Officially revealed as the brand’s first fully electric flagship, the N°8 is a dramatic blend of electric performance, aerodynamics, and refined luxury. Think tall sedan with SUV posture, wrapped in a sculpted (and yes i mean that, and you will too as soon as you lay your eyes on it) body that manages to be both elegant and assertive.

A New Design Language That Breathes

Built atop the Stellantis STLA Medium platform, the DS N°8 doesn’t look to imitate—it intends to lead. At 189.8 inches long and 62.2 inches tall, it’s roughly the length of a Mercedes C-Class but rides significantly higher. The roofline is low and fluid, sloping gently toward a tightly tapered tail, delivering a drag coefficient of just 0.24. Active grille shutters, flush door handles, and aerodynamic wheels all work together to stretch every kilowatt.

The DS LUMINASCREEN front grille glows with vertical light bars surrounding an illuminated DS logo—marking the first time this design language has made it to production. LED blades and “Clous de Paris” detailing tie the lighting signature to the brand’s identity, while the vertical rear lamps echo the theme in reverse. Add in the two-tone paint with a black-painted hood and roof—applied using a low-emissions technique—and the DS N°8 feels more like a concept car that made it to the street.

Inside: Artistry Meets Intelligence

Step into the cabin and the world slows down. The N°8’s dashboard feels sculptural—more Parisian boutique than dashboard plastic. A 16-inch touchscreen floats above a light-washed console, accompanied by a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and the brand’s latest IRIS SYSTEM 2.0 infotainment suite with voice control, OTA updates, and even ChatGPT integration.

But it’s the textures and finishes that steal the show. Brushed aluminum, Alcantara, and watch-strap-style Nappa leather combine with ambient light signatures and pearl stitching to deliver a cabin that’s equal parts fashion studio and tech lab. Even the speaker grilles are laser-cut into the aluminum trim.

The seats? Heated, cooled, massaging—and front passengers get a built-in DS NECK WARMER. Rear seat riders get adjustable backrests, climate controls, and ample head and legroom. Everything feels built for serene motion, not rushed function.

Performance and Range

Depending on the configuration, the DS N°8 offers one or two motors, with up to 350 horsepower and 375 hp with boost. Acceleration in the top AWD variant clocks in at 5.4 seconds to 62 mph, while the base model comes in at a respectable 7.7 seconds. Every model is capped at 190 km/h (118 mph).

Where the N°8 really shines is range. On Europe’s WLTP cycle, the FWD Long Range model offers up to 750 km (466 miles) on a full charge. Even the dual-motor AWD version is expected to exceed 425 miles in realistic driving. The battery comes in two sizes—74.0 kWh for the base and 97.2 kWh for higher trims.

Charging and Efficiency Tech

DC fast charging at up to 160 kW gets you from 20 to 80 percent in just 27 minutes. That’s good for about 200 km (124 miles) of range in 10 minutes. There’s also a heat pump for better winter efficiency, and the regenerative braking system features multiple levels, including a true one-pedal driving mode.

For daily use, there’s an 11 kW onboard charger, with a 22 kW option arriving later. V2L (vehicle-to-load) functionality means you can power external devices from the car, and battery preconditioning is built into the nav system to optimize DC fast charging sessions.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Like any Stellantis luxury flagship, the DS N°8 is loaded with tech:

  • DS DRIVE ASSIST 2.0 with semi-automated lane changes
  • Night Vision using infrared to spot people and animals
  • Extended Head-Up Display in augmented reality
  • Digital Rear Mirror with dual-view functionality
  • DS PIXELVISION adaptive LED headlights with 520m range
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Wrong Pedal Prevention, and more

Not Coming to the U.S., But Here’s Why It Matters

The DS N°8 won’t be sold in the United States, which is a shame—because it represents something the EV world doesn’t often offer: individuality. From its flowing silhouette to its intricate detailing, the N°8 feels tailor-made, not mass-produced. It’s a flagship which can rival the aura of Ultra Luxury cars.
