Introduction
The 2026 BMW iX can be seen as a major update over the current 2025 iX, the new 2026 model comes with the latest technology, more power, and a refined design.
Powertrain Updates:
iX xDrive45: Replacing the xDrive40, the xDrive45 will have 402 horse power, a bigger battery and a higher 310-mile EPA range
iX xDrive60: Building on the xDrive50, this model is rumored to have +20 ponies over its predecessor and can do 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 sec. for faster charging and 340 miles on 20-inch wheels.
iX M70 xDrive: The new top model replaces the M60, with dual-motor all-wheel drive and +40 horsepower over M60 xDrive adding to a whooping over 650 horsepower and up to 302 miles of range.
Design and Features
Exterior Updates: The 2026 BMW iX kidney grille gets a redesigned frame and a new structure of vertical and diagonal lines in its interior. Buyers have the option of ordering the updated grille with contour illumination on the iX xDrive45 and iX xDrive60. While the Illumination is standard on iX M70 xDrive.
New Headlight Design
The headlights of 2026 BMW iX have also been redesigned with vertical elements for daytime running lights and turn indicators.
Interior Updates
The 2026 iX has new M Multifunction Seats for enhanced lateral support, Optional Heat Comfort Package (which gives you heated dashboard, door panels, armrests), Sky Lounge Panoramic Glass Roof with electrochromic shading, Bowers & Wilkins 30-speaker sound system, 5G connectivity, Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto.
2026 BMW iX Technology
The BMW Digital Cockpit Professional, optional on xDrive45 and xDrive60, standard on M70 xDrive, includes the BMW Head-Up Display and the Augmented View function on the Information and Control Display. BMW Operating System 8.5 enables a wider range of digital content for information and entertainment
BMW iDrive also offers in car gaming when the vehicle is stationary, the driver and passengers can play casual games alone or in multiplayer mode with the AirConsole platform.
BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment system.
BMW Digital Key Plus: Compatible with iOS and Android smartphones to automatically unlock the vehicle when approached. The car can also be started without removing the device from a pocket or bag.

Parking Assistant
Parking Assistant, including Back-Up Assistant, also comes as standard in the new BMW iX. The optional Parking Assistant Professional, part of the Premium Essential Package, allows users to control parking maneuvers from outside the vehicle using a smartphone.
M Sport Pro Package
When upgraded with optional M Sport Pro Package, the new BMW iX is fitted with dark Shadowline headlights and rear lights, a unique kidney grille and red brake calipers. The new BMW iX M70 xDrive comes as standard with the design features of the M Sport and M Sport Pro Packages, and adds a model-specific BMW kidney grille with M logo, black exterior mirror caps, and exclusive 22-inch M alloy wheels.
2026 BMW iX Wheels
BMW iX xDrive45 and xDrive60 gets 20-inch alloy wheels as standard, while 21-inch or 22-inch M alloy wheels in four new variants are available as individual options or as part of the M Sport Package and the M Sport ProPackage.
The new BMW iX M70 xDrive top of the line in the range gets exclusive 22-inch M alloy wheels as standard. For the first time, 23-inch BMW Individual alloy wheels in a V-spoke design are also available.
Colors
The color palette available for the new iX now includes five new finishes: Arctic Race Blue Metallic, Dune Grey Metallic, Carbon Black Metallic, Frozen Deep Grey, and Tanzanite Blue Metallic (this will come later). Titanium Bronze Exterior Trim is also available as an option for iX xDrive45 and iX xDrive60.
But BMW iX has competition from some of the very capable SUV’s like Cadillac Lyriq-V, Lotus Eletre & Audi Q8 e-tron among others.
For Instance Cadillac Lyriq-V: The Lyriq-V an electric SUV, produces 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Its sharp, luxurious and can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, an estimated range of 285 miles.
Chassis & Handling
Adaptive 2-Axle Air Suspension with electronically controlled shock absorbers and Integral Active 4-Wheel Steering available for xDrive45 & xDrive60 (standard on M70), M Sport brakes with red calipers on M70 xDrive, Optimized wheel bearings, suspension, and tire rolling resistance for improved efficiency.
Pricing
BMW iX rumored to start at around $77,000 which is lower than the 2025 BMW iX. Production expected to start in March 2025 and deliveries expected in Q2.
