2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9: Hyundai’s Biggest EV Brings 3 Rows and 335 Miles of Range

The wraps are finally off the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9, the first full-size three-row electric SUV from Hyundai. The Ioniq 9 blends a bold, squared-off silhouette with a deeply considered approach to space, tech, and all-electric performance. It’s Hyundai’s most advanced EV yet—and also one of its most ambitious.

Hyundai’s New Flagship

Hyundai already has two strong EVs under the Ioniq umbrella—the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6—but the Ioniq 9 steps up as the lineup’s new leader. At nearly 200 inches long and a 121.1-inch wheelbase, it’s a full-size SUV in every respect, offering up to 163.4 cu ft of passenger space, optional Relaxation Seats in the first and second rows, and a third row that’s usable for adults (actually). The flat floor and wide door openings make getting in and out unusually easy for this class.

Cargo isn’t an afterthought either: there’s 21.9 cubic feet of storage with all three rows up, and up to 46.7 cu ft when the third row folds. You even get a small frunk—3.1 cu ft in RWD models—just big enough for charging cables or a gym bag.

Powertarain & Range

The Ioniq 9 is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, which means 800V architecture, ultra-fast charging, and rear- or all-wheel-drive options. All versions use a 110.3-kWh battery, with the RWD model rated for an EPA-estimated 335 miles of range and the AWD variant offering between 311 and 320 miles depending on trim. The AWD Performance model goes 0–60 mph in 4.9 seconds, yet still manages an impressive up to 5,000 pounds of towing when properly equipped.

Charging is quick: with a 350-kW DC fast charger, Hyundai claims a 10–80% charge in just 24 minutes. It also comes with V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2H (vehicle-to-home) readiness, so you can run electronics or even your home off the car’s battery in a pinch.

Lounge is the Interior

Inside, the Ioniq 9 aims for calm rather than sensory overload. Materials are soft to the touch, tones are warm and natural, and there’s an emphasis on making the space feel like a lounge, not a cockpit. The Universal Island 2.0 sliding console is both a party trick and a genuinely useful piece of design—it lets front- and second-row passengers access shared storage with ease.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment screen form the curved panoramic display up front. Hyundai also added six USB-C ports, a 14-speaker BOSE audio system, and a high-output utility mode that lets the USBs pull juice directly from the battery—enough to charge laptops or power camping gear. The Relaxation Seats recline fully with leg rests, and the available Ergo Motion driver’s seat uses air bladders to reduce fatigue on longer drives.

Suspension & Comfort Features

Hyundai engineers clearly didn’t want the Ioniq 9 to drive like a disconnected barge. The ride quality is expected to be impressively plush, thanks to the multi-link suspension, self-leveling dampers, and hydro bushings. At the same time, Chassis Domain Control, torque vectoring, and lateral wind stability control will give it a planted feel at highway speeds.

ANC-R noise cancellation, acoustic glass, noise-reducing tires, and triple door seals mean the cabin stays impressively quiet.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 Technology

Hyundai’s latest ADAS suite comes standard, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Highway Driving Assist 2, and a long list of other features. Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 makes parking tight spots easier, and the Ioniq 9 even adjusts torque delivery to maintain control while towing.

There’s also Hyundai Pay for in-car payments, a voice-activated AI assistant, and OTA (over-the-air) software updates that let the SUV evolve over time. It’s the kind of tech you’d expect from a premium brand, and Hyundai’s betting that convenience—rather than gimmicks—is what will resonate with buyers here.

Pricing

It may not boast Rivian-level off-road credibility or Tesla’s 0–60 antics, but this SUV has its own segment of following it is technically advanced has a lounge like cabin and a very good range to offer without heading north of $80K.

2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 is being built in the U.S., at Hyundai’s Metaplant in Georgia, which if you are lucky will qualify for the $7,500 federal tax credit.
